Men’s Fashion Trends in the 2011 Spring Line
Men’s fashion trends differ drastically from women’s fashion. Men’s fashion moves slower so you don’t have things go in and out of style the way you do in women’s fashion.
Formal Suites:
There are two types of styles that men should look for when buying a suit.
• Classicism
• Masculinity
When looking at the classic part of suits you want something that has the best parts of the Victorian era, the savvy flair of the 30’s and the skinny details of the 60’s. Then just apply those aspects to today’s modern look.
The masculine part of the suit you want to look for something that brings out the masculinity like broadening of the shoulders and makes your waist look trim. The wearer needs to feel masculine if the suit makes you feel good then it’s probably the right suit for you.
Suit Cuts:
Suit cuts are going towards the slim end. You’re looking for something that a military officer would wear. You are looking to bring your masculinity out in these key elements.
• Broad shoulders
• Sliming waist
• Slimed pants
Single breasted suits:
Even though this style never goes out of fashion and is considered the dominant cut for the spring of 2011. There are two main cuts for this season the sleek cut and the confidence cut. The first of the two cuts is the sleek cut and this cut is worn in a way that is toned down and has his masculinity held in a restraining manner. When buying a sleek cut suit you are looking for something that has medium notched lapels with top button reaching at about your belly button. The second cut for the single breasted suit is the confidence cut this is cut is more about feeling confident and bringing back the suit cuts from earlier eras. This suit cut features peak lapels which means that suit cuts from the 30’s are making a comeback. Another feature with this cut is that there are double buttons.
Double Breasted Suites:
Double breasted suits were originally designed to hold a larger figure. They had a boxy look to them, but all that has changed. This cut has been modified and now is made to highlight the masculine shape, the well worked body. With the double breasted suit you want to go with something called the ”kent” cut this cut has a longer lapel line that reaches down into the top button. This cut makes you look taller and that your wais is slimmer then what it might truly be. If you’re getting a double breasted suit from off the rack you will still have a large selection to choose from, with each cut looking slightly different. The double breasted suit pretty much has the same fittings as the sleek look with a few added things to look for. Those added things are peaked lapels and a pocket on the breast that fits a handkerchief. The addition of the handkerchief is required but it’s a desirable addition to any double breasted suit.
